MARK LEWIS - President

Mark Lewis served in Kosovo from November 2003-June 2004.  Mark was assigned briefly to CCIU but was primarily assigned as the Deputy Station Commander of Decani Station, Peja Region.  He was seriously injured in June and following a month of surgery and recovery in Austria was repatriated.  Mark has been a member of the CivPol Alumni Association since it's conception and is committed to making the organization succeed and grow

Mark is currently with the Bellevue, WA Police Department for 28yrs, a Lieutenant assigned to Patrol. Assignments and certifications include FTO, SWAT Operator, bicycle patrol unit, white collar detective, Peer and CISM counselor, and Honor Guard member and supervisor.  

 


PETER TRAGNI - Vice President

Peter served in Iraq from Feb. 2004 - Feb.2005.  Peter served in several supervisory assignments during his tour.  While stationed in Tikrit, Arbil, Karbala and Baghdad he trained, mentored and evaluated Iraqi Police and Instructors.  Peter has been a member of the CivPol Alumni Association since the Dallas conference.  Peter is currently working on getting recognition for our KIA members and award of the Defense Medal of Freedom.

Peter has been with the Danbury Ct. Police Department for 22 years, now assigned as a school resource officer and DARE instructor.  Peter holds a Masters Degree in Counseling.  He is a critical incident debriefer and PTSD counselor, a Police Trainer and Honor Guard member.




MIKE COX - Treasurer

Mike Cox participated in the Iraq CIVPOL Mission from November 05’ until November 06’ - when he was seriously injured as a result of a roadside improvised explosive device. He is currently on leave, recovering from his injuries at home in Florida. Mike will serve as an excellent advocate for CIVPOL officers’ injured in the line of duty.

Prior to joining the Iraq mission, Mike was a distinguished accident investigator, police academy instructor, and crisis team negotiator in the State of Florida. Commissioned as a police officer in 1991, Mike worked with both the Melbourne and Palm Bay Police Departments, and as an adjunct faculty member at Brevard Community College.  In addition to earning state certification in accident investigations, Mike is also a court recognized expert in accident reconstruction.





SHEILA WETHERBEE - 2nd Vice President & Director of Family Advocacy and Support

Sheila understands the sacrifice of the CIVPOL family better than most. Her husband, Darrell, was killed in the line of duty in Iraq. She  serves as a strong advocate for surviving spouses and families of fallen CIVPOL officers.


Prior to her appointment, Sheila served as a career law enforcement professional in Maine. She specialized in narcotics interdiction and is recognized as a certified Police K-9 Handler.  Sheila was a Police Officer and later an Agent  with DEA’s HIDTA & General Enforcement Task Forces.  Recently retired from Law Enforcement, She is now a sought after canine consultant, and travels internationally to support canine based selection and training. Sheila’s academic background includes advanced study in Sociology and Organizational Management.


CHRISTINE KIMBRELL -  Secretary & Co-Director of Family Advocacy and Support

Christine understands the sacrifice of the CIVPOL family all too well.  Her husband Vince, was killed by an IED in the line of duty in Iraq, 2005.  Christine serves as a strong advocate for surviving spouses and families of fallen CIVPOL officers.


Christine has been in the "Police Family atmosphere" for many years now.  She was married to Vince for 18 years and lived the life of a police officers wife during this time.  Christine was also active with SCLEOA. 


Christine’s academic background includes advanced study in Journalism and Communications.
